Bored Into a Trance

Hello and welcome. Bored into a Trance is a space where I write about various topics in English, an ongoing exercise in fluency, expression, and curiosity.

Here, I plan to share some of my studies, along with thoughts on English teaching, language, learning, and whatever else feels worth exploring with care and clarity.

The Monk by the Sea

The Monk by the Sea (Caspar David Friedrich, 1808-1810)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
